Global Crossing expands IP network to Bulgaria

Global Crossing, a leading global IP solutions provider, opened a new point-of-presence (PoP) at Neterra's data centre 'Sofia Teleport' in Sofia. With the establishment of the new PoP, Global Crossing and Neterra will be able to provide enhanced coverage and increased diversity options to their respective customers in Bulgaria.

"Neterra is proud to host yet another of the world's leading telecommunication companies. Bulgaria's strategic geographic location as a gateway to the Middle East has created demand for additions to the infrastructure of next-generation networks like Global Crossing's," said Mr. Neven Dilkov, Managing Director of Neterra. "We are very happy Global Crossing chose Neterra for a partner in the company's expansion in the Balkans. We believe that this strategic partnership between two major players will further strengthen both companies' positions as the preferred network and communications service providers in the region," added Mr. Dilkov.

"As the needs of today's global businesses continue to evolve, our customers are demanding more flexible and efficient high-performance network solutions," said David Siegel, Global Crossing's vice president, IP Services product management. "Global Crossing is always looking for ways to expand its ‘on-net' footprint in key strategic locations. We are delighted to be able to offer access to one of the largest Tier 1 ISPs globally to the important business center of Sofia in partnership with Neterra."

Through this PoP, Global Crossing will be able to provide IP Transit and Internet solutions for customers with presence in Bulgaria. The construction of this PoP will enhance the cooperation between Global Crossing and Neterra as both companies collaborate to strengthen each others' network for global coverage.
