Bulgarian telecommunication operator Neterra provides network and platform for the IPTV service QUARTO

At a press-conference held in Sofia, Bulgaria, Mr. Neven Dilkov, Managing Director of the Bulgarian telecommunications operator Neterra and Mr. Andreas Meierhoffer, Chief Marketing Officer of Mobiltel, the largest GSM operator in the country, announced the launch of the IPTV platform QUARTO and demonstrated to journalists the unique entertainment features of the service.

Apart from a high-quality digital television, the users have at their disposal an abundant palette of HD channels. QUARTO is the first IPTV service on the Bulgarian market, that offers users the opportunity to choose from a large number of VoDs and beloved Bulgarian and Hollywood movies, as well as music videos.

Technically QUARTO operates over Neterra's national DWDM network, which guarantees the quality of the service with its reliability and reach. The largest network for data transmission in Bulgaria and the Balkans region covers 42 Bulgarian cities and has a capacity of up to 800 Gbps. DWDM networks of this type are well-known for the easy and fast data transmission and are very effective in carrying data over long distances.

The QUARTO service uses a CDN (Content Delivery Network), entirely developed by Neterra. The CDN is an Interconnected system where video content is acquired, prepared, encoded, stored and streamed to the partner both live and on-demand. It is complete with statistical (people metrics) module, billing and payment modules. The CDN can also integrate different services, already developed by other companies.
