Last week ECTA (European Competitive Telecommunications Association) held its first meeting of the Board of Directors for 2019 where Neven Dilkov, CEO of Neterra, entered as a member of the board. Neven was part of the election process of Mr. Emmanuel Forest (an Executive VP European and Institutional Affairs, Bouygues Group) as the new Chairman of the board of directors. Emmanuel Forest succeeds Gijs Phoelich who served as Chairman for the last three years. “I am honoured to take over the helm at this critical moment. As digital innovation proliferates, and the telecommunication markets show signs of renewed and newly emerging market power, we need to make sure that competition in these markets remains strong and vigorous,“ states Mr. Forest.
Last November Neven Dilkov was chosen to be a member of the board of directors at the last Ordinary General Meeting for 2018 for a period of 2 years. The other members are: Martin Witt, 1&1 Telecommunication SE, Cem Mehmet Çelebiler, Turknet Iletiçim Hizmetleri A.S., Marie Lamoureux, Iliad, Meinrad Spenger, Masmovil, Malgorzata Zakrzewska, PLAY.
For 2019 one of the keys focuses is to enlarge the number of active members of the organisation, so they can truly influence the EU telco legislation. ECTA members are united in their belief that competition is the best driver of efficient investments and the greatest enabler of innovation, choice and benefits for citizens and businesses, as well as for the European economy overall. This is the key message that ECTA and its members promote and also have promoted in discussions about the European Electronic Communications Code.
